The figure below, inspired by a slide from a recent amazing talk by Dr Sam Giles, is designed to give a more human view of my academic career than my CV. I had three aims in producing this. First, I wanted to give some context of what was going on in my life outside of academia. Second, I like stats! And third, for me, at least, the academic job market has always involved a healthy* amount of rejection. I have no idea if my hits-to-misses ratio is typical, but if publishing the information in any way helps soften the blows for others then it will have been worth it.

* "healthy" here of course meaning "absolutely soul destroying" :)
