PhD research
OSCA

I have been involved in the design and build of a coronagraph, OSCA (Optimised Stellar Coronagraph for Adaptive optics), for the William Herschel Telescope (WHT) and its adaptive optics system, NAOMI.

You can download my PhD thesis on OSCA here - WARNING - this is a large file (~10MB) and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open.

Click here to see the official UCL OSCA webpage. Also the WHT OSCA webpages, for observing with OSCA.

OSCA underwent its first commissioning at the WHT from 19-25 May 2002. I presented a paper on this commissioning and first light at the SPIE conference on Astronomical Telescopes and Instrumentation (22-28 August 2002) in Hawaii. You can download the paper here.

A subsequent paper was published in MNRAS and can be viewed following this link.
