Msg Base: AREA 3 - ASK FATHER (AMDG) Msg No: 203. Thu 12-17-92 22:50 (NO KILL) From: Father Mateo To: Adam Zaidi Subject: Bosnia ÚÄ ³ What is the Church's view on the Bosnia Hercegovina affair? Why isn't ³ anyone going in to help the Bosnians and stop the Serbians who are ³ commiting genocide? Is it because the Christian (Catholic) world doesn't ³ care when Muslims are being slaughtered? ÀÄ[AZ=>P] Dear Adam, The Catholic Church condemns unjust war and the killing of innocent people. That's the answer to your first question. The answer to your second question is that the U.N. have been making efforts to help the Muslim population in Bosnia-Herzegovina. So far these efforts have not been very successful. Some say that more (military) force is needed. The ASK FATHER conference of the CIN is strictly a question-answer information conference. We welcome specific questions about the Catholic Church, her doctrines, practices, et al. Perhaps you would do better to address your third question to one of our other conferences. At Lourdes and Fatima, Our Lady asked for prayer and more prayer, penance and more penance, a thoroughgoing and ongoing conversion of life, a return to God. These are fundamental duties for Christians. Handwringing and mutual recriminations are useless, even sinful. Wars and injustice will not cease until we begin to obey our Lady's call. Individuals and communities must "invade" Serbia with penance and prayer. Then God will strengthen the spineless leaders of nations to make peace and see justice done. Sincerely in Christ, Father Mateo .ORIGIN: 043/001 - THE ANGELUS, -the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us - Catholic Information Network #2, Los Altos, CA (415) 967-3420
