Msg Base: AREA 5 - ASK FATHER CIN ECHO AMDG Msg No: 223. Mon 1-06-92 20:23 (NO KILL) (MAILED) From: Father Mateo To: Ron Rosmer Subject: Fatima Crusader +- | I am interested in getting your opinion of a Fr. Nicholas | Gruner and his ministry of spreading the Fatima message. As | you may know, Fr. Gruner publishes a magazine called "The | Fatima Crusader" and also hosts a number of radio and TV | programs. | | Over the last few years I have received THE FATIMA CRUSADER | and have also listened to a number of the radio programs of | Fr. Gruner's. Upon reflecting on his message and comparing | it to happenings in the world, including various Apparitions | and Inner Locutions (eg. Medjugorje, Fr. Stefano Gobbi, etc.) | I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that Fr. Gruner is | something of a right wing radical. While I am sure he is | sincere, more and more I am getting the impression that he | and his movement are sincerely wrong when it comes to his | interpretation and implementation of the Gospel. For | example, Fr. Gruner seems to be obsessed with the notion that | the Pope must consecrate Russia to Mary's Immaculate Heart | before the conversion of Russia can take place, and that this | has not been done properly as yet. Consequently, in Fr. | Gruner's view, the changes we are witnessing in the USSR now | are merely a Communist con game meant to seduce the West into | thinking that Russia is truly converted. | | Is this Fr. Gruner on the level or has he gone 'over the | edge'? +-[RR=>F] Dear Ron, I do not know of Father Gruner, nor his magazine. If some passage particularly bothers you, send me a message with a quote - a short quote, please - and I'll attempt a comment. I am suspicious of anyone who tries in public to tell the Pope how to do his job. I would think the Pope is the best judge of the proper way to go about praying for Russia. If Father Gruner thinks the collapse of Soviet Communism is a ruse to seduce the West into thinking that Russia is truly converted, he might read Matthew 12: 24-28. Sincerely in Christ, Father Mateo
