Mosaic Museums

An exciting part of the course was two trips to Istanbul to mosaic museums. The Byzantium Empire is famous throughout the world for their wonderful mosaics and these certainly lived up to my expectations! Emma had visited Istanbul many times and knew precisely which museums had the best mosaics and provided a running commentary, related to the lectures, to really show us how the art has evolved.

The beauty of these mosaics is awe-inspiring and the pictures do not do them justice - They Must Be Seen In Person!!
