Dear Ed,

Not I, but the Council of Trent (session XIII, chapter 2) teaches
that the Eucharist is "the spiritual food of souls, by which they
may be nourished and strengthened." It is "an antidote whereby
we may be freed from daily faults and be preserved from mortal
sins." Theologians, therefore, conclude that the Eucharist is
morally (though not absolutely) necessary for adults to preserve
for a long time in the state of grace.

Both Lateran IV and Trent teach that adults (I.E., from age of
discretion onwards) must go to Communion at least once a year at
Easter time (Lateran Council IV, chapter 21; Council of Trent,
canon 9 on the Most Holy Eucharist). This is a minimum
requirement.

Sincerely in Christ,
Father Mateo

- Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit -
